I found this turtle in my backyard. I think it wandered in my backyard as a result of the rain these past few days. I hear turtles tend to travel when it rains.
I thought of keeping it as a pet for my daughter but aside from the state law I may break, its also known that box turtles do not easily adopt to a new environment. Most of these box turtles move around when it rains but they tend to find a way back so if you happen to keep them in a location foreign to them, they will be restless and will easily stress out. They usually wander around until they find their original environment and sometimes they die trying.
